CLITHEROE boss Chris Stammers is hoping for wet and windy weather at Shawbridge tonight as he attempts to steer the Blues into the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

After holding Southern League Premier Division side Halesowen Town to a draw on Saturday in the West Midlands, Clitheroe can now enjoy home advantage - and the appetising prospect of playing Kettering Town away for the winners.

Stammers said: "I think they're leaving at about 3pm so the last thing they'll want to do when they step off that coach will be to play us.

"And hopefully it will be a cold and wet night and we can have 300 or so supporters screaming us on.

"If we can make a good start then who knows?"

The Blues were unlucky not to win the tie at the first attempt after hitting the woodwork several times and finding the Town keeper in inspirational form.

But despite more than matching their higher league opponents, Stammers still maintains that the Blues are underdogs, although he was hopeful of a cup upset.

He added: "If you look at the teams we've played so far this season and the sides in pre-season, then I think the lads can hold their own against anyone from higher leagues."

Stammers will be without striker James Dean who is suspended.
