When the Olympics began I was looking forward to them.

One week in I have to say the wall-to-wall coverage is a little too much.

They have 20 HD channels with every single sport live so it is quite easy to get addicted to flicking from one channel to the next.

I love the Olympics but I am already close to getting ‘Olympiced out’ and the athletics haven’t even begun yet.

By far the best sports to watch are the handball and the fencing.

I did sit through a whole session of the archery the other day too. This I found fascinating. It is very simple — you get three shots and then the other person gets three shots.

The excitement was unbearable going into the final three shots.

The water polo has to be the most difficult sport to take part in. The canoeing looked pretty tough too.

They are the only sports I realised I would struggle competing in.

There is also the issue of why we always only show Great Britain athletes on the main channel. In past Olympics we got coverage of great matches and battles regardless of where they were from.

Also, have we not become overly-obsessed with medals?

I’m certain some nations are watching us and saying ‘hey these guys really know how to celebrate a bronze medal’. Kazakhstan have won more golds than us!

I will a lot happier when we overtake them and the Koreans.

But we are putting on a great show and there is nothing finer than seeing the Britain doing what it does best. Organise things.

I spoke to one friend who kind of put things in perspective. “I watch the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony and the 100 metres final.”

I can’t, I’m afraid, as I am hooked on every sport. Damn those 20 HD channels.
