A MAN has been taken to hospital with a bleed on the brain following a three-vehicle crash.

Police have issued a witness appeal following the incident happened in Edenfield at 9.30am this morning.

Police said a Mercedes Sprinter van was travelling eastbound on Rochdale Road when it was involved in a crash with a Jaguar.

A Vauxhall Astra, travelling behind the Jaguar, was also involved in a crash with the Mercedes.

The driver of the Jaguar, a 61-year-old woman from Norden, suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The Mercedes driver, a 35-year-old man from Chorley, was taken to Oldham Hospital having suffered a bleed on the brain.

A 48-year-old woman from Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire, driving the Vauxhall, was treated for minor injuries.

Police closed the road for five hours to allow accident investigators to attend the scene.

Temporary Sergeant Lee Harris said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Ramsbottom.

“Three vehicles have been involved with all the drivers involved suffering some form of injury.

“We are particularly keen to establish exactly what happened. If you witnessed the incident and can help with our enquiries, please call us.”
