A COMMUNITY centre was transformed into a scene from the 1940s for Rossendale’s annual Blitz Ball and more than 100 people, young and old, donned 1940s costumes, including military and civilian attire.
They were encouraged onto the dancefloor at the Riverside, Whitworth, by GI Jive, as well as 14-piece ensemble Dickie Milton and The Swingers.
The event raised £400, which will be donated to Whitworth Sports Council.
Organiser Jim Mellor, a Whitworth Town Councillor said: “Everybody enjoyed themselves and we made a few quid as well.”
