SCORES of people went quackers as they watched Whitworth’s New Year’s Day Duck Race.
Participants arrived at Cowm Reservoir just before 1pm to sponsor one of 800 ducks competing in this year’s competition.
The race, which is organised by Whitworth Town Council’s tourism and leisure committee and CLAW (the Community Leisure Association of Whitworth) is a popular crowd pleaser with top cash prizes of £75, £50 and £25 for the winners.
Spectators lined the bridge as the ducks were set on their way.
