FIFTY-five vehicles were stopped, and five of them seized by police, as part of a crime crackdown in the Crawshawbooth and Whitworth areas.
The aim was to target the main arterial routes in Rossendale and stop vehicles being used illegally, or for criminal purposes.
In addition, any other road traffic offences were dealt with, with a view to driving home road safety issues.
Four vehicles were seized from the owners for having no insurance, and the drivers prosecuted.
Four fixed penalty notices were issued for road traffic offences, and one person was arrested for driving while disqualified.
Sgt Ben Hodgkinson said: “We will keep running these operations.”
