THE FAMILY of teenage electrician who died after falling from a ladder have paid tribute to their ‘cheeky, happy boy’.

Nathan Brown, of Tonacliffe Road, Whitworth, fell 12ft while working at DDM Haulage Ltd in Shawforth Industrial Estate and went into cardiac arrest.

The former Whitworth High School student was airlifted to Royal Blackburn hospital in a serious condition and died a short time later on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said they had been informed of the death and police were investigating the circumstances surrounding it.

Nathan’s family said in a statement: “Nathan was a loved son, brother, uncle, grandson and a close friend to many who are all distraught at the news of his death.

“At only 19 years old our cheeky, happy boy has left a big void which can never be filled.

“A devout Liverpool fan, Nathan loved football and played both five-a-side and 11-a-side football with friends whom he also loved to socialise.

“He was a bright, happy go lucky young man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He brought joy and laughter to everyone he met and left a lasting impression.”

The tragedy is the third to rock the close-knit community in the past few months following the deaths of Royal Marine Commando Wesley Clutterbuck, 19, and lifeguard Jake Harris, 21.

Coun Lynda Barnes said: “It’s just such a tragedy. We’ve lost three young lads in the town in such a space of time and a lot of people are hurting. It’s terribly sad for all of their families and my thoughts are with them. My granddaughter lives across the road from Nathan and she said he was a very keen footballer and was friends with Wesley Clutterbuck.”
