A BAR in a village has received complaints about the noise and anti-social behaviour of customers.

Residents in Whalley have made a number of complaints to police officers and local councillors about the noise from customers inside Brady's Bistro and Wine Bar, in Queen Street, and customers' anti-social behaviour immediately outside the vicinity.

The premises was most recently taken over by licensee Michael Long in November 2016, which is open between 9am to 12.30am from Monday to Thursday and 9am to 1.30am Friday to Saturdays.

A resident, speaking on behalf of neighbours on Queen Street, said they are 'frustrated' by the 'deafening' noise that comes from the bar on weekends.

Lori Vernon, 27, who has lived on Queen Street since April, said: "The bar has been a problem since it opened more so these past couple of months.

"The noise has been unbearable.

"There could be 40 people stood outside across from my house and the noise you can hear is deafening.

"There are mounds of chewing gum and loads of fags outside the place which no one cleans up.

"I've also seen people urinating in the street and even fights break out.

"I'm frustrated because the owners do not do anything about it.

"The problem for us is the council.

"The premises licence is open to 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays but it's never the case. It's open until at least 2am to 2.30am.

"This is my first home here in Whalley, which is a place I really like.

"I have family and friends and the area has a lot of brilliant schools but I might be forced to move out if this continues."

Police have also launched an investigation into am assault at the bar in the early morning of Saturday, December 17.

A police spokesman from Clitheroe said: "We are aware that Queen Street residents have made a number of complaints.

"The reports we have received are in relation to noise coming from the bar."

Cllr Terry Hill, who represents the area, said: "I'm concerned because I'm getting continual complaints about noise from within and anti-social behaviour immediately outside the vicinity.

"I'm also concerned about the assault that occurred inside and I'm sure the licensee is concerned as well.

"It's the first time I have heard of disturbance like this there.

"We are working with Ribble Valley Council to review the situation and hopefully achieve a better outcome for both the owner and the neighbours."

The licensees were unavailable to comment.
