THE cousins of a teenage boy who collapsed and died on a rural road are organising a charity football tournament in his memory.

Bobby Carter, 17, and his brother Brandon, 16, are trying to raise as much money as possible in memory of Oliver McIvor.

The 17-year-old, who was due to join the Army's Duke of Lancaster regiment, was found dead in Back Lane, Sabden in January.

It is thought he collapsed while out jogging.

Now his close friends and family will play football against students from Shuttleworth College where Oliver attended.

A junior football tournament is also set to take place, with more than 20 teams involved.

Bobby said the event will be about celebrating all the positive aspects of his cousin's life.

He said: "Oliver was very popular and was loved by all his friends and family.

"So it only felt right to have a big event with everyone he knew to come together.

"He was a Chelsea fan and he liked football, so he would have liked the idea of a football match."

Dozens of tributes were left on Oliver's Facebook page on Monday, to mark what would have been his 18th birthday.

The fundraiser will also include a raffle, food stalls, bounce castles and entertainment.

Money raised will go towards a charity chosen by his family.

Bobby said: "I hope everyone can make it down there, it would be great to give him the best send off he truly deserves.

"I want to say thank you to everyone who has donated a prize for our raffle there is some unbelievable prizes.

"The amount of support has been amazing. We want this day to be special as it possibly can.

"I'm hoping for around 500 people to turn up, everyone who knew him will be there."

The event will take place on Saturday, May 13, at the Burnley and Calder Vale Sports Club in Holden Road.
