ROAD safety campaigners, who have been fighting for the installation of a pedestrian crossing on the A59, will be collecting signatures for their petition today.
Residents in Gisburn have expressed concern over the thousands of cars which pass through the busy A-road each day where there is no level crossing.
Gisburn Parish Council have called on Lancashire County Council to carry out an assessment of the road to see if it meets the criteria for a crossing.
Cllr David Waters, who set up the Gisburn pedestrian crossing campaign, is inviting residents to join him for a day of protest on September 9 at 11am.
"One of the things the highways department is looking at is evidence from the numbers of people locally supporting it and I hope we get that."
There will be a street stall set up on the corner of Burnley Road and Bentlea Road from 11am to 1pm.
