Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings from the 2-1 defeat at Leeds United.

Christian Walton 6

Little he could do with either of the goals. Best stop came to deny Roberts in the second half, but wasn’t overly stretched.

Elliott Bennett 7 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Harrison had the run on him for the goal, but the full back largely stood up well to the winger’s threat, winning an impressive seven tackles, more than anyone on the pitch. Distribution, including two deep free kicks, was disappointing, but showed plenty of fight.

Ryan Nyambe 6

Lost Bamford for the second goal, but largely covered the ground well to stop Leeds’ counter-attacking threat.

Tosin Adarabioyo 6

Missed his kick, and on his follow through caught Ayling for the penalty, but that would prove to be one error.

Derrick Williams 6

Headed home his third of the season to bring Rovers back in to it. Slashed a volley wide in the second half. Was given a tough time by Costa defensively.

Lewis Travis 6

Added some drive in the middle of the park, including one rampaging run late on. Got through plenty of work, much of it to try and contain a mobile Leeds midfield.

Stewart Downing 5

Set plays were one area Rovers could well have targeted, but his delivery for the goal apart, was disappointing. Tracked back well against Ayling, but couldn’t offer much by way of creativity in the final third.

Adam Armstrong 4

Largely anonymous, struggling to get in to the game, touching the ball just 18 times. Couldn’t provide a threat on the counter-attack that Rovers required. Subbed on the hour mark.

Lewis Holtby 6

Sprung several counter attacks with some excellent forward passes. Organised things well behind the ball. Rovers were starting to become over-run when he was replaced, but they didn’t have the same level of creativity when he went off.

Bradley Dack 5

Locked in a battle with Phillips throughout the game, and didn’t get much change out of the Leeds man, or the referee, on a frustrating afternoon.

Sam Gallagher 5

Got away once from the Leeds backline in the first half, only to be let down by his touch. Spent most of the afternoon chasing balls forward, and found it tough up against two Leeds defenders at all time.

Subs

Danny Graham (for Armstrong, 60) 5

The flick-ons he won failed to find a team mate, and while he was able to hold the ball up, was given limited chances to get on the end of any crosses.

John Buckley (for Gallagher, 69) 6

Added some fight after his introduction, booked for a tackle on Phillips, but couldn't dictate the play from the right wing.

Corry Evans (for Holtby, 69) 5

Twice caught on the ball, and couldn't help Rovers get a foothold in the game late on.
