‘ALARMING’ numbers of children in Lancashire are running away from home to escape abuse and neglect, said a charity.
The Children’s Society has launched its Safe At Christmas Appeal as the number of runaways in Lancashire reached 3,620 annually with many spending Christmas away from home, risking harm or sexual exploitation.
In Lancashire, The Children’s Society’s project, Street Safe, works with children who have run away to support them and help ensure they are safe.
