A MOTORIST has appeared in court accused of causing the death of a Pendle dog walker by dangerous driving last summer.

Stuart Mather, 60, of Leet Road, Higham, died while out walking with his Scottish terrier Hamish on Barrowford Road in June.

Kay Nolan, 44, of Merlinwood, Colne Road, Thornton-in-Craven, near Barnoldswick, has appeared before Burnley magistrates, charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Magistrates sent the defendant on bail to Burnley Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing on April 16.

The father-of-two’s dog was also killed as a result of the incident.
