A SIX-year-old girl and her mother will tonight say thanks to a charity which helped the youngster feel like a little princess.

Little Charley-Jo Kibble, from Foulridge, suffers from alopecia and has gradually lost her hair.

But after the Little Princess Trust stepped in, she is now able to sport a specially-crafted wig which replicates her dark brown locks.

Her mother Vicky Kibble said: “If I was to go out and pick up one of these wigs it could cost as much £1,500.

“Originally the wigs were designed for children who had lost their hair through chemotherapy treatment for cancer and that is what the charity was formed for.

“But they also do them now for children like Charley-Jo so we wanted to do some fundraising for them.”

Tonight Charley-Jo and her family will be hosting a ‘Back 2 School’ bash at the Giddy Kippers play centre on the Lomeshaye business park near Nelson.

Tickets are priced at £8 and include a lunch box.

And fellow pupils at her school, St Michael and All Angels Primary in Foulridge have also chipped in.

The youngsters held a bandana day – Charley-Jo often wore one as her hair-loss developed – and raised £200.

Her auntie Lisa Smith also had her head shaved and collected £3,500 for the Little Princess cause.

The trust was established in 2005 by Wendy and Simon Tarplee, whose daughter Hannah lost her life to a rare form of cancer.
