RESIDENTS in Pendle are backing plans to extend a set of boarding kennels near their homes.

Twenty one people who live close to Robin Hill Cottage in Greenhead Lane, Reedley, have written to Pendle Council to point out that the kennels are clean, there is demand for extra space, its staff are helpful and the animals are well looked after.

They are supporting the owner’s bid to build a cattery with 18 cubicles at the site.

But four residents have raised concerns over noise from animals.

They have also mentioned the design of the building, which they fear would be a blot on the landscape.

Their concerns have been echoed by Pendle Council’s planning officers whose report says they believe the development would be ‘inappropriate’ for the Green Belt land.

They are recommending that councillors on the Brierfield and Reedley Committee reject the application.
