BOSSES at Pendleside Hospice are celebrating after they were given more than £100,000 of Government cash to pay for new facilities.
Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle has been given £133,388 by the Government as part of its End of Life care strategy.
At Pendleside Hospice, Colne Road, Reedley, the money will be spent on new kitchen equipment and bedroom furniture.
Chief Executive Brian Hartup said: “We are naturally delighted that our application to the Department of Health’s Capital Grants for Improving Hospice Environments programme was successful and we are looking forward to making the improvements that the grant will allow.”
Gordon Prentice, MP for Pendle, said: “This is splendid news which really will make a difference. The money comes on top of a grant of £95,000 a few years ago.
“Brian Hartup tells me the grant will allow them to carry out a series of improvements. The kitchen will be gutted and re-equipped.
“Ten inpatient bedrooms will have new furniture. And other facilities such as the conservatory will be upgraded.
“All in all, it is marvellous news.”
