A VOLUNTEER has knitted 30 Easter chicks to raise money for a hospice.

Cynthia Wallbank undertook the challenge to celebrate Pendleside’s 30th Anniversary.

The chicks, which containing Lindt chocolate eggs, will be sold for £2 each in the hospice reception shop.

Ms Wallbank said: “I began volunteering 18 years ago when the lottery was set up and run from the Nelson hospice charity shop on Scotland Road, but I’m now based at the hospice on Colne Road in Reedley.

“I help with the Lottery administration on Friday mornings opening post, sending out winner’s cheques and such,”

Leah Hutchinson said: “Cynthia is one of almost 450 volunteers who donate their time to the hospice.

“They are all a credit to Pendleside and go above and beyond to support people living in our community who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness, their family and carers.”
