A POSTMAN from East Lancashire re-lived the moment when he won £8,000 on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire at the weekend.

James Thurstan, from Blacko, took part in the hit ITV1 quiz show in October, but had to wait until Saturday evening to watch the show - and remind himself of the questions.

The 27-year-old said: "After the recording of the show, I realised I could remember the first three questions I answered correctly.

"I think because I was so shocked and nervous at getting selected.

"I really didn't expect to get in the hot seat, so when I did it all became a bit of a blur!"

James found himself sat opposite Chris Tarrant after he won the "fastest finger" selection round, where he had to put actors who have played Batman into chronological order. He did it in four seconds, beating the remaining eight contestants.

He then answered seven questions correctly, but was stumped at the next one: "Who was reported to have said a desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy'. The answer was Guy Fawkes but he was not sure so he took the money.

He used his first lifeline, Ask the Audience, on the £1,000 question, phoned his Uncle Chris in Barrowford for help on the £4,000 question, and when that didn't help, he went 50:50. He answered the £8,000 correctly on a lucky guess.

James, who lives in Gisburn Road with his partner Tracy Heys and their two-year-old daughter Kerry Thurstan, said: "We're hoping to buy a new house, so when I went on I was really looking to winning £32,000 or £64,000.

"But anything's a bonus really so I was of course very happy to got £8,000.

"I received the money soon after the show, so we had a very good Christmas with it."

Even if he had won the £1million jackpot, James told the show that he would still continue his job as a postman, because he enjoys his job.

James's parents, from Barrowford, and his brother and grandma, joined him to watch the show on Saturday
