Residents in an East Lancashire town might have been left wondering what was going on as two enormous explosions occurred in the space of three hours on Monday night.
People living in Bacup were warned by the police that they were likely to hear two large bangs between 6pm and 9pm.
The explosions, which some people on social media have said, 'shook their house', were part of filming for the new series of the Sky One show, Brassic, starring Michelle Keegan and Joseph Gilgun.
Two controlled explosions took place at a disused building on St James Square in the town.
A police statement issued on social media said: "Please be aware that film crews are in Bacup this afternoon and evening (Monday, December 2).
"As part of the filming, two controlled explosions will be taking place at a disused building on St James Square.
"Residents may hear two large bangs when this happens at some point expected between 6pm and 9pm.
"This is nothing to worry about – please don’t be alarmed.
"Officers will be patrolling the area so if you have any concerns please speak to one of them."
Intermittent road closures and diversions were also put in place while the crews filmed scenes for new episodes.
And bus operator, Rosso, suspended their 464 service diverting the buses via New Line to and from Rochdale.
