AN AMBER warning has been issued for heavy rain and possible flooding for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The warning indicates that Blackburn and East Lancashire is likely to see heavy rain combined with melted snow leading to flooding in some areas.
The rain is forecast to begin early on Tuesday morning and to persist well into Wednesday, though it is likely to start to become lighter from Wednesday evening onwards.

- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life
- Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely
- Spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- A good chance some communities cut off by flooded roads
- Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses likely
A less severe yellow warning is in place for Thursday with rain expected to continue to fall early in the morning.
Residents are advised to avoid travelling if possible.
