SPECIAL viewing sessions are to take place weekly encouraging Hyndburn people to sign up to new allotments.
More green-fingered Hyndburn folk now have the chance to grow their own fruit and veg, after the council created new growing spaces at Meadoway allotments, in Church, and Woodnook allotments, in Accrington.
Coun Ciaran Wells, cabinet member for allotments, said: “Growing your own fruit and veg is really popular these days, so it’s great news that we’ve got a range of plots up for grabs.
“Plots on offer range from small, easily-manageable, but highly-productive raised beds where you can grow a lot of food with easy access and no digging required, to the larger allotment plots, where some good healthy digging will be needed, but well worth the reward of eating your own food grown by you.”
Viewing sessions are held at Woodnook on Wednesdays, 5pm to 6pm, Queens Road West and at Meadoway, in Rothwell Avenue, on Thursdays, 5pm to 6pm, until the end of August.
