A FORMER cotton weavers’ mill in the Duke Bar area of Burnley is to have its security wiring upgraded because of thefts.
JF Securities Ltd has applied to repair old security features at the grade two listed Stanley Mill in Shackleton Street, which dates back to 1891.
In a planning statement, the firm said: “The proposed works are to remove the security wiring and over-hanging cantilevered brackets, and re-fix them with the cantilever over the roof.
“These were initially provided to enhance the security of the building which has been the target of thieves stripping lead flashings and gutters.”
