THE mayor of Darwen Town Council has paid tribute to unpaid volunteers who made this year’s Darwen Live music festival the ‘best yet’.

Coun Trevor Maxfield, one of the main organisers of the event, said if it wasn’t for volunteers the event would not be able to go ahead. He said: “They helped to ensure it was the most successful year in the event’s 14-year history.

“It really was a fantastic two days for everybody and if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication of our team of volunteers it would not be possible.

“They are a credit to themselves and to Darwen.”

The event took place on Sunday and Monday.
