FIRE crews battled a blaze in an Accrington kitchen.
Crews from Hyndburn and Rawtenstall were called to the property in Timber Street where the kitchen sustained extensive fire damage and the lounge severe smoke and heat damage. The rest of the property suffered moderate smoke damage during the outbreak on Sunday afternoon.
A fire service spokesman said: “The occupier was initially alerted by the smell of smoke as she opened the kitchen door. Flames and smoke were visible beneath the fridge and, as the occupier attempted to move the fridge, the flames intensified.
“It would appear the fire was due to an overloaded plug socket.”
