A COLNE man died from industrial disease, a coroner has concluded.
Peter Dutton, 60, of Leeds Road, Nelson, had worked at car garages in Cowling, Nelson and Burnley, where it is believed the father-of-one breathed in the dust that caused him mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos.
He died in Reedley’s Pendleside Hospice in March after battling a lung tumour.
Richard Taylor, senior coroner for East Lancashire, sitting at Burnley Magistrates' Court, read a statement from Mr Dutton’s wife Sandra in which she explained how her husband had suffered from shoulder pain, which was later diagnosed as lung cancer.
Mr Taylor said: “I have no hesitation in returning a conclusion that this is industrial disease.”
