FIREFIGHTERS are again warning about the dangers of deliberately starting fires.
It comes after crews were called to two blazes which had been lit in the same Blackburn street during the early hours of yesterday morning. They were first sent to Downham Street shortly after midnight and spent 15 minutes putting out a wheelie bin that was ablaze.
The team was called again around 1.45am after receiving reports of rubbish on fire.
Crew manager Lee Garnett said lives were potentially being put at risk. He said: “Again we were there another 15 minutes, but that is time that we are tied up at that incident due to somebody setting a fire.
“If somebody else has to ring for a fire engine, the crew would have to come from further afield. It can cost lives.”
