FIFTY officials from the Care Quality Commission will continue their planned inspection of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust today.

The visit by Sir Mike Richards and his team started on Tuesday and will continue until tomorrow.

There will then be an unannounced inspection in the coming weeks.

The visit comes almost a year after the trust was placed in special measures after NHS inspectors made wide-ranging criticisms of the way it had been run over several years.
