A RURAL village group has received £3,000 in funding to convert an old school into a ‘community hub’.
Thornley Community Space applied for the grant from Ribble Valley Borough Council to help transform the building which dates from 1880 having been built by local workmen using local stone.
The group is aiming to offer a place for people to meet socially and to promote activities for the people of Thornley and surrounding areas.
The borough council earmarked £3,000 towards the £67,660 cost of the project which was given the green light at a meeting on Tuesday.
