Emmerdale soap villain Oliver Farnworth is even attracting attention off-set as his real-life partner has said people have “warned” her about him.
Oliver, who plays John Sugden in the ITV soap, has been in a relationship with an ex-EastEnders star since 2019.
However, despite Oliver being nothing like the on-screen brute he plays, it appears there’s been a fair share of attention linked to his role.
Oliver appeared in the mysterious role of John Sugden last August, as the long-lost son of Jack Sugden.
Since then, he has caused a storm in the village by accidentally killing Nate Robinson, dumping his body in the lake and then convincing Aaron Dingle to marry him.
But to the frustration of viewers, most of John’s actions have gone unnoticed.
Who is Oliver Farnworth in a relationship with?
Luckily, Oliver’s real life is a lot less tubulous than his on-screen one.
The soap star has been in a relationship with EastEnders legend Samantha Womack for six years.
Oliver and Samantha met while starring in a production together and they now live between the UK and Spain.
Sharing an insight into her relationship with Oliver, Samantha told The Sun: "I do get warned about him. But Oli is actually so strict about confidentiality. So he comes back every few days and he won’t tell me what’s happening with anything.
"He’s like ‘I just can’t let you know,’ and I’ll say ‘come on I’m not going to tell anybody.’ But I really think this is one of his favourite jobs to date. I visited the set and it’s beautiful. They have rolling hills and cute cottages. It’s very different to EastEnders.
"And what is funny is he gets a lot of attention when he goes up north, but when we go down south everyone knows me from EastEnders so it changes where we go."
Samantha played feisty Ronnie Mitchell on the soap for a decade until she was killed off alongside her sister Roxy in 2017.
Since then, fans have often slammed writers for killing off the popular characters on social media.
