Around 10 million Brexit 50p coins started showing up in people’s pockets and wallets when they entered banks, post offices and shops from 2020.
People also had the option to buy the new coin if they didn’t want to wait.
With incorrect details printed on two Brexit 50p coins, GB News said they could be worth up to £40,000.

The Royal Mint produced versions for sale which ranged from £10 for a brilliant uncirculated 50p to £945 for a limited-edition gold coin.
The Mint said it was the fourth time it has been involved in the production of a commemorative coin to mark the UK’s relationship with the European Union.
It produced a coin when the UK joined the European Economic Community in 1973, created a design for the single market in 1992 and marked the UK’s 25th anniversary of joining the EU in 1998.
How to get your old coins valued
GB News reports that one million of the Brexit 50p coins were issued with the wrong date on them and had to be melted down. A collection with the correct date (January 31, 2020) was then produced.

However, two coins are known to remain and they’re now worth a huge sum due to their rarity.
The 50p coins both have the incorrect date on them (October 31, 2019) which was the original planned date that the UK was meant to leave the European Union.
GB News explained that an auctioneer said the find is similar to coming across a “golden ticket” from Willy Wonka.
