Naturally, Lancashire Police is not a business organisation but a public body looking after law and order. So what I find difficult to understand is how it can be fined £70,000 by the Information Commissioner’s Office over lost papers containing sensitive information.
These are vital funds the police and the public are being deprived of.
A financial penalty definitely should not be a solution in these situations – if anything, heads should roll.
As we know, the police are always hard-pressed in their efforts to solve crime, and this is going to worsen things.
Dread the thought, but we can now expect more cops to lurk behind bushes and jump out on unsuspecting motorists!
