I WAS intrigued by our local WW2 hero agent Sigrid Green’s account (LT, December 30) of the north sea convoy to Russia.
Indeed, an almost forgotten generation now, who were brave beyond belief.
A long-overdue recognition.
Thank you to the previous person’s letter concerning support for a memorial to the seamen who gave their lives, serving on three vital convoys.
As a child, I remember my father referring to the terrible sea conditions they suffered helping Russia.
Like the long overdue London, Green Park memorial to Bomber and Coastal command. their losses were huge.
The North Sea WW2 convoy personnel should have one likewise, in London or on the east coast – Newcastle, Hull or any other appropriate location.
