WE read (LT December 26), about police cracking down on domestic abuse.

It comes the day after a report in the LT about a woman whose partner – now in prison – bit off her nose.

This woman, according to the report, is still in a relationship with her attacker and visits him in jail.

Judging by the severity of the attack, the fact that he didn’t kill her and that she is still alive is probably more down to luck than anything else.

And yet, there she is, still seeing him.

I know you cannot force people to get help, and I’m sure the police realise that she’s safe while he’s still in prison.

But surely someone can make this woman see the wretchedness of her situation.

If you’re reading this, dear, think on.

While you let people use you as a punch bag, they will do so.

Being a ‘victim’ is a state of mind. Only you can change it.
