AS a resident of the Ribble Valley I have to disagree with the opinions that some readers have regarding the building of new houses, especially in Whalley.
It is not a case of NIMBY, and wondering if the value of houses will fall (Opinion, October 11).
I feel that the councillors and planners have not taken into consideration the effect that the traffic alone will have on the village.
If 80 houses are to be built on land off Rhyddings Lane, potentially there will be another 160 cars on the road.
That is before planning permission is granted for any more.
The councillors should attempt to drive from Whalley towards Billington at peak school times when it is absolutely chaotic.
Whalley already has a massive parking problem.
There are no school places, either primary or secondary, and I would imagine the health centre could not cope with any more patients either. Julie Noblet, Billington.
