There has been much column space given over to the capital punishment debate.
In a society with no god, it is a natural assumption that to deprive a murd-erer of his/her entitlement to life is a logical outcome for the bereaved and the wider society.
In a society that honours God, His Word has comfort for both the bereaved and the murderer, but capital punishment is the judgment passed but with divine authority.
Britain used to have the death penalty and it also had a number of other laws that were entirely based on God’s immutable laws.
Many of these have been overturned by successive governments, with undesir-able consequences. Perhaps it is time to remember why this country of ours was so heavily blessed for two-and-half centuries and what it brought about its demise.
Phil Heaton, Blackburn.
