Blackburn Sea Cadets would like to thank all who generously supported their week in the charity shop on Penny Street.

It helps to fund our work with youngsters and pays for essential things like insurance, utilities, travel and sundry items like stationery.

Unfortunately, the Charity Shop is now ‘out on a limb’ due to the run down state of the market and closure of the shops on Penny Street.

These factors were no doubt responsible for a marked drop in takings this time and I would appeal to people for their continued support of all the charities who will be using the shop between now and the end of May when it will be closed for demolition.

We hope that the council will be able to provide alternative premises then because the shop is a lifeline for the voluntary groups who use it.
