THE British National Party's outrageous suggestion to ban all Muslims from flights in and out of Britain is just another example of their extremist right wing, racist bile.
British culture is a rich synthesis of plural religions, ethnicities and identities, yet the extremists ideology of groups such as the BNP are intent on undermining and damaging the fabric of British society by perpetuating racial hatred, intolerance and aggression.
The ban on football hooligans was placed upon individuals who had committed offences and posed a threat to civil order, the ban was not extended to all football supporters, clearly it would be ludicrous to punish the majority for the foolish actions of a few.
The suggestion to ban all Muslims from flights on the premise that some individuals may have been involved in illegal acts is equally absurd.
However, one would not expect anything less from a regressive, divisive and outright racist organisation such as the BNP.
Tackling the threat of terrorism is a serious concern for all British Muslim citizens and we support the efforts of our security services to keep our communities safe.
We all have a responsibility to contribute to and strengthen our civil society, not capitalise on misfortune to further racist agendas.
