The performance of La Traviata in Blackburn recently was most enjoyable with an often very moving rendering of this popular opera.

We are so fortunate in Blackburn that this travelling company actually comes to Blackburn, including also its excellent full orchestra with its most able conductor, Tamas Bolberitz.

I felt very sad for the cast that King George’s Hall was probably little more than half full. And the company were here with all their costumes, set and full orchestra for just one performance!

Many, many thanks to them for coming.

I hope very much that next time they come there is a lot more publicity beforehand and maybe much bigger concessions for students and under eighteens in particular.

We are so fortunate to get opera of this standard in our town and I do hope more people will be able to attend their performance here when the company – hopefully – returns next year!
