I HAVE been through a long process of intrusive checks and assessments in order to become a foster carer and had a glowing reference.
The new manager of the fostering agency feels that because I have taken a small dose of anti-depressant from time to time in periods of stress, I would be unable to deal with a challenging child and has therefore rejected my application.
He said it would have been different if I had had counselling instead.
My advice to people who are hoping to adopt, foster or have fertility treatment in the future is to avoid the use of anti-depressants because they may come up against the prejudiced attitude I have experienced.
