MAY I take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of people who have telephoned me and sent cards with good wishes on my retirement as a local councillor.
May I also thank the officers of Hyndburn Borough Council, particularly Mr Brent Clarkson and Mr Brendan Lyons, from the planning office, for their support over the past 11 years whilst I was on the planning committee.
Thank you also to the staff of the works department, housing department and environmental health, and anyone who I may have missed.
Finally, I'd like to thank my wife Maralyn, for her unquestionable and undivided support over my 12 years as a councillor. Without her, it would not have been possible.
It has been an enjoyable time, meeting lots of people, and I will miss it enormously.
