THE letter (LET, February 21) Council must tackle vermin' made my blood boil.
As a postman who has worked in Blackburn and Darwen for the past two years I have travelled all over the towns.
I think it is about time that people took responsibility for their own muck, rather than pointing the finger of blame at the council and others. Some areas of town are spotless, others are a tip.
I honestly doubt that the council cleans some of these areas and not others.
The reason some areas are clean is because residents in that area show respect for their area.
The reason some are a tip is because residents there have no respect for their surroundings.
Lesley Bibby calls for cleaner back streets. Surely she should be asking why are the back streets in such a state that they need cleaners?
Why are back streets in her area infested with rats and yet most other areas are rat-free?
Before people point the finger of blame, maybe they should look at themselves and their neighbours first.
SIMON BRADY, Watery Lane, Darwen.
