THE review of Brokeback Mountain (LET, January 6) called it: "a masterpiece, cinematic alchemy, gorgeous, haunting, jaw-dropping, heart-rending, stunning," and many more superlatives.

So how come I can't see this film in Blackburn? The new Vue cinema has twice as many screens as the old Apollo but shows the same number of films.

Anyone not wanting to watch kids' films still has to leave East Lancs.

ERSKINE MORRIS, Blackburn.

FOOTNOTE: A spokesman for Vue Entertainment said: "There are a limited number of copies of this film in circulation for cinemas to use, so unfortunately, not all of our locations were able to receive a copy and we have been unable to show the film in Blackburn.

"We apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused, but we have a full programme of other great movies in Blackburn and customers who wish to see Brokeback Mountain can see it at our Bolton and Bury cinemas."
