Your article on buses axed causes me great concern. Do you realise, on bus routes 10 and 11 Witton and Wensleyfold, there are actually four sheltered housing schemes along with many other sheltered homes in the community?

As a warden in one of these schemes, it angers me that once again the elderly generation are let down by cost-cutting exercises.

People living in these schemes choose to do so as they wish remain as independent as possible for as long as they can.

Taking away this service means that lots of residents in the community will become isolated in their homes. After all, not everyone can afford taxis.

This is the generation that have probably paid on Blackburn Transport most of their working lives. Is this the way you should repay them?

Surely there can be some compromise – maybe combining the routes and making it a circular service.

It works in other parts, reducing cost and keeping the residents in the community happy.
