With reference to thenew bus lane on Preston Old Road, how much has this cost and can it be justified? Firstly, the council has torn up a TOUCAN that was installed only three years ago. Secondly, they have ripped up and resurfaced a perfectly good road surface with the exception of 30ft in the middle. They then proceeded to replace a perfectly good set of traffic lights at the bottom of Buncer Lane. Why?

How much has all this cost for an operating time of a measly 1½ hrs between 7.30 and 9am? Buses will only get 0.5 mile ahead before they have to merge back in with other traffic.

As for the council suggestion that residents park on the pave-ment, this is beyond belief. It is illegal to park with any wheels on a pavement unless there are signs stating otherwise. So residents, you may be booked.

To add insult to injury, someone is already digging up the new road before the scheme is finished. How long before the council realises it has wasted our money on another useless scheme?
