Whilst walking my dog past the New Row Methodist Church which my wife attends on Heys Lane in Blackburn, I was disgusted by the state of the graveyard seen from the road.
The grass was as high as the gravestones.
Having suggested to my wife about putting sheep on to graze (not a good idea, she said) I also said they should get the criminals to do some work on it. At least it would look a lot better.
Not sure if my wife mentioned it at the church, but someone made an inquiry and a few weeks later a few people from the probation service turned up with strimmers etc, and what a good job was done.
I know the health and safety brigade would probably scoff at this.
But come on, give them something worthwhile to do.
