I WAS surprised to read about the Bishop of Burnley’s wife’s petition against women bishops.
In my view it is no wonder that 700 women priests are in favour of women bishops.
A few women bishops would knock some sense into the men and sort out the mess that they’ve made of Parish Share.
As for Mrs Goddard’s view that women bishops will drive people away from the church, they are already leaving in frustration over ridiculously high demands from the diocese over and above a church’s own expenses.
In my experience, people have been incensed and hurt when fine women who long to become priests have been turned down.
Let’s appoint more women priests and some women bishops and get our church back on track. RUTH LOFT, Ryburn Avenue, Blackburn.
