Leaflets about Blackburn with Darwen's proposed bus route from Darwen to Accrington are being delivered between June and July to residents.

The meeting for everyone in Darwen was Monday June 16 from 6 to 8pm, yet, until I was informed by a person from an area not affected by these proposals (he received one of the leaflets) today, I did not know about it. Even local businesses are not aware of these proposals.

I have been on to the website and the maps are so badly drawn up that unless you use a magnifier you can't read the streets that are affected.

Where I am in Darwen they are about to rip up the 20-plus trees and grass area at the back of the houses here and replace it with parking for 51 cars. What about the environmental impact of that?

The council is saying that the £50million costs would save about nine minutes on the bus journey and the bus lane will be imposed 24/7 (never knew buses run 24/7 did you?). Traffic in Darwen is only a mess since the council have bus stops right where they then inserted crossing points into the road so when the bus stops everyone else has to as well.

The road worked well before this so it is not the car user that is causing the problem, it's the council itself not thinking through things. Or was this the ulterior motive behind these crossing points?

I have spoken to residents on Greenway Street and the massive change to the traffic in that area, and they also have not been informed. Is the council deliberately ignoring its residents and businesses by sending these leaflets out to anyone but those affected? Even the questionnaire is biased in its questions.

This proposal cannot work as it stands - the road is not wide enough as the bus lane itself is only partially routed. Obviously the council has realised this but what happens when the bus lane runs out when the road is too narrow?

This is a council that has stated that trams won't work due to the hills yet forget we had one in the 19/20th century.

Kill this proposal or we kill Darwen even more than the council has had with its notorious relief' road.
