FURTHER to the article (LT, May 16) headed Caring Gran would do anything for her family' it is a tragedy that she lost her life by being knocked down by a reversing bin lorry.
This is not the first time this has happened to an elderly person.
It is my view that a mandatory law should be brought into being making it an offence for any lorry, especially a high sided one such as a refuse collection lorry, for it to be reversed without another operative supervising the operation.
It is a cheap price to pay if it prevents similar accidents.
