IN reply to Mr John Smith (LT, May 15) how have you come to the view that most of the people of Blackburn and Darwen voted Labour?
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Labour lose the council and also lose four main seats in Darwen and Blackburn?
In your own words you are splitting the towns on a voting basis.
Let me put you in the real picture. For Darwen hold the balance of power. This means we did not have to join with anyone.
Labour would have run the council and we would have the ability to vote for or against whoever we wanted to.
What we have done is formed a power share that allows three parties the ability to sit down and work as equals.
This means you will, for the first time in 24 years, see democracy in action.
Labour have dictated for so long you do not see the difference.
Three party leaders with the opportunity to converse with each other, given the ability they all have for compromise means you will have a council working for you, the people and not a council working for a single party.
COUNCILLOR M JOHNSON, For Darwen Party.
