ON April 28 you published my letter in reply to Rachel' on the subject of Virginia.
In that letter I highlighted the USA as being hooked' on violence for entertainment.
On Sunday, April 29, I took three five minute samplings of the film Shaft.
In those random 15 minutes, 17 people were killed by firearm.
I don't know how many died throughout the entire film, but this was urban America' not a war film.
The effect on minds that are less than sound can only be imagined and surfaced no doubt in the 18 US campus mass killings in as many years (Shaft plus others).
Virginia was the latest, but sadly it is unlikely to be the last multiple killing at a campus or workplace.
